The FTSE 100 set a new high in a record-breaking week after Tesla boosted US markets overnight, and Middle Eastern tensions cool.

The FTSE 100 added to its run of record highs after a surge in Tesla shares drove Wall Street higher overnight.
The blue-chip index rose0.5%, or 38 points, to 8,083, beating yesterday’s high, as it showed ‘more stamina’ in what has been a record-breaking week, said Sophie Lund-Yates, lead equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown.
‘A slight cooling of Middle Eastern tensions coupled with broad-based corporate earnings optimism are helping the FTSE,’ she said.
