'Golden Bachelor' couple announce they are to divorce on Good Morning America

Shortly before the season finale ofGolden Bachelor,Gerry Turnerwas met with backlash for "lying" about his dating history before going on the show and meeting now-ex-wifeTheresa Nist.

In November,The Hollywood Reporterreleaseda bombshell reportin which they claimed to have discovered several inconsistenciesregarding both Gerry's work history and recent romantic relationships that contradict the narrative he and the show's producers (who may have been ignorant of the details) put forth to viewers.

The 72-year-old dateda woman fornearly three years, beginning a month after his wife’s death, even though he toldEntertainment Tonight: “I mean, I haven’t dated in 45 years."

Gerry and the woman's relationship ended on less than good terms and it cast a shadow over him as fans believed him to bewholesome and authentic.

On Friday,Gerry and Nist revealed they're divorcingonGood Morning America, after only three months of marriage.

There, Gerry allegedly met a woman,whom he dated fornearly three years, beginning a month after his wife’s death in 2017.

She was 14 years younger and a staff accountant at a mental health center, and it's claimed they dated for 10 months, and then lived together for one year and nine months.

This account comes from interviews with the woman (who requested not to be named to protect her privacy), as well as friends she confided in at the time and text messages with Gerry, among other documents.

The woman allegedly wasn’t the only relationship Gerry and theGolden Bachelorproducers failed to mention.

This fall, theU.S. Sunspoke to Heather Lanning-Adams, a waitress at The Shady Nook, a bar and restaurant located next door to Gerry’s new lake house.

She claimed thatin the last six years, Gerry allegedly "dated a couple of women. They weren’t all long-term, but they … weren’t short-term either…. He was with a couple of women for a decent amount of time, but it just didn’t work out.”

The first woman, meanwhile, didn’t want the years of her life as Gerry's girlfriend to become national news fodder.

She also did not want to be the “invisible woman,” whispered about in Davenport as Gerry's gullible duped and then dumped girlfriend.

The woman was allegedly embarrassed that her ex threw lines and moves on his many contestants throughout the show that he had used to seduce her.

They broke up shortly after, with Gerry allegedly telling her to be out by Jan. 1, 2020.

“My only response is that I have so many positive things in my life right now,” Gerry toldThe Los Angeles Times about the claims. “I have the wonderful love of Theresa, my partner. I don’t have time to reflect on comments like this. I’m happy to look forward.”

Later, Gerry chatted withKatie Couric and came clean.

“I guess I would say this: I dated a number of women, but then it becomes an issue of how you define whether you’re in a relationship,” he said.

Now that Gerry has officially filed for divorce fromTheresain his hometownPetersburg, Indiana, many have wondered if the bombshell report contributed to the divorce.

However, the drama with the ex did not factor into their split.

“Gerry had already discussed that with me,” Theresa shared during the estranged couple’s TVappearance, referring to the bombshell report.

“He had explained it to me before the report was ever released, so we were good with that,” Theresa continued. “That didn’t play into it.”
