Love Island's Terry Walsh and Emma-Jane Woodhams split up after eight month romance (2024)

LOVE Island contestants Emma-Jane Woodhams and Terry Walsh have ended their eight month romance after getting together on the ITV2 show.

Terry took to Twitter to announce the split, and insists that despite the break-up the pair are still friends.

He wrote: "For people asking me or who it concerns me n Em have broken up. We're still friends. One chapter closes another must open" [sic]

It was partnered with a 'thoughtful' emoji.

The duo became one of the most memorable couples from last years series after having a raunchy sex session over the covers while the rest of the housemates slept in the same room.

However, despite Terry previously being partnered with Malin Andersson on the show, love bloomed and they left the show together after coupling off.

While most fans are normally sympathetic towards a broken heart, Terry's announcement appeared to divide opinion - and the tattooed hunk started getting cruelly taunted by trolls over the relationship.

One fan wrote: "guess we will be seeing you on ex on the beach then"

Another said: " such a shock!! Surprised it lasted that long!!"

And a third added: "Couldn't expect anything less."

Two other followers spoke about how it was "one down" from the Love Island couples and asked:"Wonder who's next?"

However, he did get some support, with one person writing: "aww terry I'm sorry to hear that but glad u remained friends x"

Another said: " i did wonder but only as she wasn't on your snaps anymore #newchapter"

And Alex Bowen, who found love with Olivia Buckland on the ITV2 show and is now engaged to her, also jumped to his friends defence.

"People that have happiness from others Misfortune... you will always be a t*** [smile]," he wrote, adding:"some comments I see saying another couple down #stfu"

Emma-Jane is yet to publicly comment on the split but did retweet Alex's message of support.

While Emma-Jane and Terry haven't stood the test of time, the ITV bonkfest has proved to be surprisingly effective when it comes to finding couples.

Essex pair Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey were the bookies favourite to take the crown after fans fell in love with watching the pair’s antics on the ITV2 hit show and took home the prize money with 54% of the vote.

They have now set up home together in their native town and have even made guest appearances on The Only Way Is Essex.

Kady McDermott and Scott Thomas have now moved in together as well, and Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen are now engaged to be married.

Fourth place couple Katie Salmon and Adam Maxted split within two weeks of the show finishing- and she is now dating Danielle Whittaker.

Rykard Jenkins and Rachel Fenton, who didn't make it to the final, are also still going strong.

Bosses have already confirmed that Caroline Flack will be back for round three presenting the dating reality show, which is currently looking for hopefuls forthe new series.

Hopefuls will need to be over 18 with a valid British passport and must be available for up to seven weeks in June and July 2017.

Encouraging people to apply,runner-up Alex Bowen gushed: “2016 was mine and Olivia’s year and what better way to round it off than proposing to her.

“I’m absolutely made up that my wonderful girlfriend has agreed to marry me. Love Island made our year – 2017 could be yours!”
